Dash lights on a 1997 F150XL
#2
if it is the same as a 99, which I think it is...heres how.
-pull off the plastic around the radio
-Pull off the plastic around the steering wheel (the part with the strip of rubber on it)
-Now, unbolt all of the bolts surrounding the instrument panel. You going to have to search for them. Once you have them, pull off the part, just around the cluster.
-Pull off the part that is over the cluster and the radio (1 - big piece) you will have to remove some more bolts before doing this.
-now you have access to the gauges, using a torx(i think) driver, remove screws around the cluster ( 5 0r 6 I think)
-Pull the cluster out and disconnect ( 2 wire harnessed in the back)
-On the back of the cluster you will see many holes, in some you will see a little flat piece of plastic. with a needle nose, you can get in there and give it a quarter turn and those are your bulbs.
(there are several for all of the warning lights, but I think 3 or 4 for the main needle lights)
**This is for a 1999, but I am pretty sure it works for the 97 too. can someone verify this?
