Question # of wires for trailer

How many wires (or pins) are there for a OEM trailer harness? The harness I got is a four pin, which is fine but it looks like the previous owner installed the universal four pin harness. Looking under the truck, there is two extra wire that were cut and are just hanging there. I do not plan on changing it, unless necessary.

The other two wires are most likely for a 7 pin. I believe, Ford trailering package includes a 4 and a 7 pin connector, so the trucks will be pre-wired for both.

I forgot to mention that the other two wires looked liked they were diked off (no connectors). Are those other two wires for brakes (not lights)? Thanks alot!

All F150's come with the flat 4 pin harness from the factory. If your truck has the optional Class 3 towing package, it will have the 7 pin round connector instead. What color are the wires that are dangling?

The wires that are dangling are orange, blue, and black with green stripe. So, there is actually three wires dangling. The orange and blue wires are approximately 12 guage also.
