Problem with signal mirror

My '01 KR Supercrew has the signal mirrors that have the turn signal on the outside of the mirror housing, not part of the glass mirror itself. The driver's side is not working. I see no obvious way to check if it is a bulb out or a wiring problem. Is there a way to diagnos the problem and possible fix it myself or am I looking at another trip to the shop?

I think I just found the answer from a post that was titled side marker lamps. I'll try what was explained there.

Simple enough swap:

First, tip the mirror all the way down. Using a long, thin, flat screwdriver, pry the two tabs (down IIRC) to release the cover.

Then, remove the cover.

Twist the bulb base out of the housing, just like your parking lamps or brake lights.

Swap the bulb and reinstall, making sure both tabs snap into place. IIRC, the bulb is either a 916 or a 922 depending on the year/model.

Good luck!

Got the bulb changed out once I got home today. Just took a couple of minutes thanks to the description in previous posts. I would have never figured out how to get into the mirror housing otherwise. Thanks
