has anyone ever attempted to take apart a power window switch and replace the LED inside? im assuming its a LED.

if anyone has, do u have any pictures of what i might be in for?

im really not up to paying 30 or 40$ every time a switch craps out!

thx for any help.

additional questions for anyone who might know

y are LED's burning out?

or is it just a cracked solder connection? (the reason i ask is the odd time a light will come back on then go out again.)

and isnt it a coincidence that both LEDs in the same switch are going out, and coming back on at the same time? (back to the connection issue)

the connections in the switches are very fragile. I replaced all of the green LEDs in my switches with 3mm Blue LEDs. It was not that hard to do. Here is the "how to" that I followed to change the LEDs http://forgotton.net/diesel/blueled/index.htm

I thought someone was saying they were trying to get a TSB out for it, or one just did. Apparently its common on 04 early 05 to have drivers window switch go out like that

Tsb?

These switch lights going out are a common problem in my truck. I have probably had to replce every switch in my truck (I have a Screw with sliding rear window and sunroof) and that is a lot of freakin switches. Well, after having those switches replaced a few months ago, I now have the sliding rear window and driver side door lock out AGAIN!!! It is so annoying because it just looks tacky. Sooooo is there a TSB out for this? I would like to let my dealership know before I have to go pay for this crap to be replaced. Heck, I might just do it myself with some leds from Oznium. Anyhow, hopefully somebody has knowledge of the TSB.

If you bought the parts at the dealership & installed them yourself, you have a year warranty on the parts. If you paid the dealership to install parts they supplied, you have a year warranty on parts & labor.

If there's a TSB, the dealership will have better access to it than anyone on a BBS, and it won't affect you anyway. TSBs are only for technicians & billing clerks - nothing else. They have no effect whatsoever on warranty.

There's not much to the cruise switches. If you go to that link I posted, I think he also has an article about disassembling them for cleaning. I have a junkyard set that I bought to convert my '99 CV, so now they're 'extra'... Are yours triangular?

Rectangular would better describe them. Still keepin an eye on ebay for a cheap cheap set to fool with.
