the battery in my 97 4.6 is dead. parked it few days ago. went to start her up and got nothing. no headlights.NOTHING.i tryed jumping her ,still dead. showd no signs of weakness etc..anyway it was a 540cca. does that sound big enough?? i would think around 600cca for the new battery right?? its 100% stock no custom stereo or extra lights etc..

The 540 is the standard OEM size. The next OEM is in the 750 to 800 range.
You need to see why the battery went flat by testing the charge system for no charge, drain, coroded cables etc.

I called my local ford dealer and they told me a group 65 should fit. I had room for a 65 so, I went with that. My old one was a group 59 540 cca. New group 65 is 875 cca.

when my battery died last month i put in a battery i got from work. Its a Cat battery with 880 CCA. it cost me $70 but that was cost price. I'm sure the public will pay closer to $100.
It was about 1/2" bigger in all directions but still fit in the box.

The towing package included 'heavy-duty' battery.
I'm not sure what size it is but, it's over eight years old and the truck started this morning.

I'll probably buy another just like this one.
