Fuse/Relay problem

Hi,
Recently my 2001 F150 started and when I tried to take it out of park it wouldn't budge. The power windows and windshield wipers wouldn't work either. A local garage looked at it replaced a fuse and it ran fine. Today I start it up and try to take it out of park--the same problem. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Usually when the shifter won't allow the truck to come out of park, it means that the brake lights are not working.

There is a brake light interlock to the shifter. Check your brake lights, to make sure they are working.

I would think going back to the same fuse a before is a good starting place.

Might want to provide some additional details :
1. Do you have any thing else installed on the truck ?
1.1. If so, where did you connect them to ( circuit / fuise # )

2. Do you have an aux CHMSL ? ( Center High Mount Stop Lamp ) like on a cap ?
2.1. If so, where did you tap into the brakes at to get this ( there is a circuit for this on the brake switch pedal that should have been used.

3. Do you have after market Rear / CHMSL bulbs installed ?

Those are the only things that I can think of at the moment, that would be of interest, in tracking down why you keep blowing the fuse.

Thanks Scully,
Everything on my truck was done at the factory. I will check the brake lights to see if they are working.

I did install a new brake light, but it has been at least 2 years ago.

This is the first trouble I have ever had with this truck...it's been great...

Thanks again...

Also, did you have your cruise recall performed?

No, I didn't...Will do next week when school is out...

Also, when I checked fuses the shop had put a 7.5 amp fuse in where a 5 amp should have been...I replaced it with a 5 and I'm back in business...and the brakes were working...if a fuse keeps blowing is that relay problem?

If a fuse keeps blowing, it's a SHORT CIRCUIT problem!

You need to give us the exact fuse locator number. Several fuses have common failures especially the brake lamp fuse due to a faulty cruise deactivator switch.

Update:
The 5 amp fuse blows every time I shut the vehicle off now...tried a 7.5 same thing...put in a 10 this morning to see if it will hold...I guess I'll take it to the Ford dealership and see if they can figure it out...

Fuse F15 on the 2001 supplies circuit protection for the GEM module and for the sensor part of the Brake Pedal Position (BPP) switch (not the lamp circuit, that is on F13 as the switch is a dual function device).

Possibilities include: Faulty GEM module, damaged wire harness, or shorted component on the BPP circuit.

If the fuse blows only when the brake pedal is depressed, that pretty musch limits it to the output side of the BPP switch. Connected devices on that portion of the circuit include: GEM, CSM/RAP module, shift lock actuator, PCM, 4WABS module (if present), and the speed control servo.

This portion of the BPP was separated from the actual brake lamp circuit prior to the 01 model year.
