Brake lights

Couple of questions, does your windshield washer work, is it all rear lights or only on one side, does the third brake light light, do you get turn signals in the front?

Need to know so to what hardware to identify or wiring. Did this just happen one day or was there intermitent times it happened?

my 97 had the issue with the right side. my problem was the wire separated from the press in pin in the harness to the multi function switch. be careful there really isnt much excess wire to manipulate, so soldering really sucks!

the wipers only work if i push it it for the windshield washer fluid, the brake and turn signal work on the right side but not the left, the third brake light works, and the front bulb blinks fast(like the rear bulb is out). i pulled the conectors at the T right below the left tail light and it looked good, i also inspected the wire from the T to the tail light and it also looked good. the tail light works and so does the reverse light. where should i look

Check the MFS and its connectors/pins.

It appears to be your multi function switch. It is the combination turn signal, high beam switch and windshield washer. Mine went bad, I took it apart twice and rebuilt it. Finally I had to get a new one. Got it online at Rock Auto. Best price. Not hard to change at all.

Good luck

Remove your column covers and inpect the wires going into the switch connector, you probably have a pin pulled loose. I've fixed alot of ford light problems there. Just try to get a little more slack on the wires by removing the clips that hold the wires in place along the column.

Im having the same problem. No brake lights and no signals either side front or back. Would I still want to check the multi function switch in the colume?

Any kind of intermittent or one side not working it is cheap insurance to just go ahead and change the multi function switch.

Buy it at Rock Auto best price

If it's working intermittantly I'm willing to bet it's a pulled wire. Try it while tilting the column in all positions, if it quits working when you have it tilted down look closely at the wires on back of the switch, one of them will be pulled out of the connector.
