Fog Light Bulb Replacement

2004 F150 Lariat 5.4 4x4

the search feature is not working for me right now so if this has been brought up in the past im sorry.

one of my fogs have just burn out and i was wondering if replacing the old bulb (its a 42w) with a 100w bulb would melt the housing/harness, ect.

i run the fogs alot at night when im driving, say 2-3 hours and the extra light would b nice but if its going to result in having to buy new housings then obviously its not worth it.

any advice on the brand/type of fogs would b nice too. oh, and im not a fan of blueish tint at all, i prefer just the plain old white light. im looking for the whitest, brightest fog bulb out there.

thx for any help

I installed the Sylvania 9145ST bulbs, and it is a nice upgrade.

You can also get a set of Silverstars for the H13 headlamps as well, although they are not as good as the 9007 Silverstar bulbs in the 98-03 MY trucks.

I have not seen a 100W 9145 bulb, so you would be going down the road of modifying the 9005 ( 9006 ? ) bulb for use in the fog lamp.

I seem to recall a few going with the 60W 9005/6 without problems, but I have never tried it myself. The Silverstar upgrade both headlamps and fog lamps was good enough for what I had to work with.

Still looking at the Hella grille replacement, but waiting to see if the price comes down on them.

Several people have burnt up their wires with 60w, so to get more light output you could...

1) upgrade your wiring to handle 100w bulbs
2) add additional fogs
3) try the silverstars in the fogs

Depending on how much "firepower" your really after, I think I would lean towards adding more fogs, perhaps in the center gap to give you a driving light feel.

Or you can just do what Imact9 did and light that sh*t up like a runway.
