gas gauge stuck at 1/2 way?

as the title says...in an 04 screw lariat...I just filled it up to beat the gas price hike and the gauge stayed on 1/2. I shut down and it went down fine, but on restart, only made it to 1/2 way again. It is almost like it isn't reading my last fill.... reads 1/2 and the kms to drive are the same as pre fill. hmmm?
ideas anyone,
cheers,
P

inched way to 3/4

the gauge moved somewhat up to 3/4. I am going to hit the gas station again to make sure it is full...so could the sensor/sending unit be faulty?
cheers,
P

First I would double check and make sure the tank is really full. The pump auto shut off would always turn on in my old suburban even when the tank wasn't full.

Maybe the fuel pump float is stuck or hanging up in a certain position. You could try and slalom to try and move the float around.

Tank is FULL!!!

So I loaded the tank and the gauge nudged up just past 3/4...so I have eliminated that possibility. Which leaves me with either a bad calibrated gauge or sensor in the tank.
Ideas?

(I took a really bumpy road to work and nothing moved)
