OK, I pulled the headlight switch in my 98 XLT. It's the type with a rotating **** for off, parking lights on, all lights on - plus a single dimmer for the dashboard and dome light. I don't have auto on/off or fog lamps.

Nomenclature I could find on the switch:

1208A (or maybe 1808A? ... embossed in the plastic)

On the attached sticker:
F85B-11654
AA
JAFS

(and it's "made in Mexico" ... yippee)

Any ideas how to cross reference this to a Motorcraft (or some aftermarket) part number? If I had to guess, it's an SW5261, but I'd like to make sure.

You'd be better off just going to the junkyard and getting one......why do you need a new one?

Well, I thought about the junkyard route, but given that the switch I have broke with very little use (can't turn on the dome light anymore), I wasn't exactly convinced that a used one would be a good investment.

Besides, given my work schedule at the moment, I have very little free time to be cruising junkyards (of which there are very few close to me). And a new switch is less than $85 delivered.
