95 f150 5.0 work truck .. 188k miles.

Battery died yesterday. I had to jump it from wifes 03 lexus and while cables still hooked up, and right after the engine caught the idle surged for 15 seconds, dropped real low, then reset normal.

Replaced battery at work, now every time I start it, it does the idle surge thing and the check engine light flashes 3 times. Other than that drives normal and works fine.

It's an OBD I plug, and I haven't taken it to read codes yet (autozone can't read this plug type).

Any ideas?

It may very likely cure itself after a few dozen startups, assuming your charging system is OK. The EEC4 system may have to relearn the parameters specific to your engine. If not, a code checker is still available at Wal-Mart, et-al for less than $30.00. Also, you can read the codes with a test light or an analog volt meter.
