Rat ate my wires

Hello. I have a problem with a rat that ate the wire. A module in front of the gas tank that has 2 wires going to it from the wiring harness that runs down the frame rail.
Code P0627. And my truck acts like the fuel pump isn't running. I read that the fuel pump control module is farther back on a cross member. So I'm assuming this is something EVAP related.
Can someone tell me what this module is called and it's purpose?
I'm planning to patch the wires, but am wondering if there's anything else that may be damaged as a result of these wires being chewed.
I'm sure the problem happened at my home, but I drove it to work and when I was leaving work the truck did a long start then seemed to run out of gas.
The wires are still connected but chewed bad. I rolled them between my fingers hoping to get continuity and the truck did crank but went dead shortly after.
Help would be appreciated.
