Talking Just installed my 40 series delta flowmaster.

Just got the truck back today from the exhaust shop. I decided to get the 40 series delta 2.5" inlet and 2 2.5 outlets with duals out the back with 18" by 3" slant cut tips. The sound is incredible it is loud but not to loud. At idle it is a nice rumble, when you go WOT it is great. Do the flowmasters you will definatly be happy........steve

Hey congrats steveo!

Looks like you're very happy with your system. I didn't know flowmaster made a 2.5"in/two2.5"out...i've only seen 3"in/two 2.5" out. Hows the interior resonance, how mean does it sound and would you have wanted more if you did it again?

Take care,
Jason

Wink

Well the flowmaster that I got looked like a 2.5 not the 3.0" inlet. I may be wrong but I doubt it. The noise in the cab is pleasent. To really hear the exhaust you have to have the radio down and man does it sound awesome. The interior noise is faint if that and at highway speed I can barely hear it. I had the regular 40 series on my other truck and it was loud as hell in the cab definately happy that I went with the delta flow..........Steve........Syco come to the picnic and you will be very jealous.....OK crash....steve again

steveo,

I am looking to do either a 50 or 40 series on my F-150 with duals out of the back. I have the 4.6 too and was concerned about the noise. I do not want an interior drone at highway speed. How much did the 40 series cost you and did you get it done at a national muffler chain shop?

Thanks,
Steve

Cool

Congratulations on your 40 series! Have you noticed any low end difference? I read a thread earlier where a guy switched from 50 series to 40 series and lost some low end power. Either way I go I'm definitely going with the Delta-Flow. By the way, have you noticed any adverse effects from leveling the truck out by cranking the torsion bars?

Blueflareside,

If you go with the 40 series ask the muffler shop to mount the muffler under the bed. I had the muffler shop put a 14" extension (3" pipe) between the convertors and muffler so the muffler wasn't mounted under the cab. That should help out on keeping the interior alittle more quiet.

Blueflareside,
Go with the 40 series Delta Flow- 50 is WAY too quiet!! Be sure to have the muffler mounted under the bed like Jupiterak mentioned. I have a '97 4.6L auto., and had the 50 then "upgraded" to a 40. I just had the muffler replaced using all the factory pipe (except the extension used to enable mounting the muffler under the bed). Muffler was $65 and $10 for labor and xtra pipe. Interior noise is virtually non-existant. SOUNDS GREAT outside!! Intend on a true dual out the back w/chrome tips when I earn the xtra $$. Go with the 40!!!

CONGRATS Steveo!!!!!!!

Question

Man is it hard to choose which series.

I am leaning to putting a Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow in replace of my stock muffler on a 2000 5.4L leaving all of the original pipe. I am wanting noticeable and head turning but not annoying. Am I doing the right thing or do I need to look at the 50 Series.

Thanks

Thanks for the information. I will ask them to mount the muffler under the bed. I would have never thought of that.

Cool

ilmagill,
I was given a price of $230-$250. This is for a true dual, all the pipe, labor charges, two Flowmaster Series 40 Delta Flows (mounted side by side, vertically under the bed), and two 3 1/2" x 16" chrome tips.

How does the truck ride with that body lift? A friend told me that the one on his Ranger made the truck ride rougher and it felt a bit more sluggish. Also, how many miles have you put on those BFG A/T's and how happy have you been with them?... I will need tires soon, and want a tire that has good road handling (wet & dry), pulls well through mud, not too noisy, and that should get around 50K miles.

Question

Pat,
Why are you putting two flowmasters under the truck? I put the single inlet dual outlet and that is working fine. I just don't see the need of two but that is just me..........steve

Pat: The body lift doesn't change the ride at all. The only thing it does do is give the truck tad more body roll. As for the tires they do affect the ride. The tires are reletivley quiet but they make the ride a little stiffer because of the tough sidewall. But I'd live with it anyday. I am very impressed with the tires, wet and dry....as opposed to the 255/70/16 generals before them. I have 10,000 miles on them now. I've heard that these tires can push past 50k too. The one thing is, experiment with the psi. The ride suck at first...but i lowered the pressure and WOW what a difference. I am runnin at 40psi, but people are running down to 35. But all in all i am very impressed with the tires...especially since they've had quite a bit of nails and other sharp objects in them without deflating the tires at all.

Wow that's an awesome price for that. Where was it that would install that cheap. Because a local shop was quoting me about 325 for 1 flowmaster 40 series delta and a single outlet at the side (catback system).
