I have a Gibson single pipe 3" cat back on my Y2K F-150 5.4L 4X4. This system is designed for towing and off roading, I feel like I got more torque etc and I know I am getting a little better mileage. Downside-- not much louder than stock, just a little throatier, but now that I have over 5,000 miles on the system it is getting a little louder. Overall I am very happpy with it, because I didn't want it to be very loud anyway. Good Luck

I agree with Red Y2K. I've been doing a lot of research and the Gibson Swept Side seems to be the best performance you can get for these motors. Actual gains in low end torque (which is numero uno in my book) and HP that start right off idle. Even if it is a little quiet, I rather have a sleeper anyday over all show and no go!!!

PS

I already have my Gibson Swept Side system and my truck isn't due in til late August. Think I am a little too anxious??? Got mine from Carparts.com and used a 33% off coupon. Coupon # is 1865008, you can use it too. System cost me $220 (regular $320) + $32 shipping with the coupon.

Question What setup works best?

I know this is a subjective question but help me out. What exaust setup works best? Particularly for 4X4's? I want something that will withstand moderate offroading but look and sound good as well. I would like a little extra HP and mileage out of the deal too. Can an aftermarket cat-back fit the bill or will I have to go custom? I like the looks of the Gibson systems and the price is reasonable but how do they perform? How much can I plan on spending for a custom setup?

Boss,

Do you happen to have the carparts.com part# for that system? I searched all night but couldn't find the system for the 2000 SCab. Thanks for the coupon, can't wait to order!

I think you will be happy with that system. The price "Boss" got is good, I paid $278 including delivery from Truck Performance Center, back in March.

"Boss"
You will sure have one nice truck, don't blame you for being anxious!!

If I mess this up it's because this is my first time here. Anyway, I have the Gibson Super Truck, comes out forward of the passenger wheel, I love it. Great sound, especially when you get on it. Unless you high center off road I don't think you'll have any problems with clearance. Summit Racing has them for $279. Once you get the old one off(I used a reciprocating saw)installation is easy. The down side is you are cutting off stainless steel for aluminumized steel. If you off road a lot in water, you'll get more corrosion.

I think you can get all of the Gibsons, including the "Sport Truck" in all stainless if you want.
