Question does this sound reasonable

I ve been looking around for an exhaust for my 2003 f150 Fx4 and i think that i will go for flowmaster. I talked a guy in a shop a town over and he said for $350 i could have my choice of a 4o,50 or 70 series installed. Is this a good deal? and he said then figure anywhere from$20-100 for the tips, and im figuring 100 cuz i want stainless obviously. Should I go with this or continue to shop around. He told me this includes muffler pipes hangers installed for $350. Whats the word guys?

Thanks
Jim

No way should you pay $100 for SS tips. Yo ucan get Magnaflow Stainless Steel tips for around $25. www.bigexhaust.com I would also recommend a Magnaflow muffler instead of a Flowmaster. Magnaflow = more power, and to me a nicer sound.

$350CAN would be reasonable, but not USD.

Single
Flowmaster muffler $60
Single tail pipe $43
Installation $50-75

Dual
Flowmaster SIDO muffler $70
dual tail pipes $80
Installation $75-125

thanks for the input guys, im going to keep shopping around

quick question tho, what is the main differences between cat back and tru-duals, is tru duals mean two seperate mufflers? And I also called for a price quote on magnaflow and was told $650 installed.

Total cost installed $250. I guess it depends a lot on where you live.

Wherever you live is just jacking up the prices (unless not US dollars).

Cat back usually means it replaces the muffler and tail pipes, usually bolting right up to the stock exhaust right after the factory y-pipe. True dual means the factory y-pipe pipe is removed and two pipes run into either two mufflers or a dual in dual out muffler, then out two tail pipes. This can be with ot without some kid of crossover (H-pipe, X-pipe, or built uinto muffler).

Thanks a lot APT

I live outside of Boston MA. Thanks for the info, now at I know the difference, so maybe it was 350 for tru duals, flowmasters. Is that irreasonable? Do i need tru duals or can I get the performance out of a cat back?

Thanks

Jim
