What do I do first??

Hi All,

I would like to get some more HP and acceleration out of my Truck. Plus I want to hear my engine better, but not to loud. I have a 97 4.6L XL.
Do I put on a new air intake system on first or new cat back system?
As far as air intake, is the K&N system worth the extra money or is one of these off brands on e-bay for under 100 bucks just as good?
As far as exhaust, I want to hear a nice rumble, but not to loud that I wake the neighborhood up in the morning. I like the look of the dual exhaust out the back. I'm leaning towards MagnaFlow because what I've read that one seem to give a performance boost compared to the Flowmaster and a better sound.

Any thoughts on the above would be great.

Thanks!

Where to begin: If you have the cash, I recommend getting Mik T's Stage 1 kit. Pick either superchip, flip chip, or microtuner which varies the price from about $850-1000. THat iwll get you intake, exhaust, and superchip which is good for a huge diffeence in how it drives, sounds, and performance.

Thanks for the reply. Don't want to spend that kind of cash at once. I would like to spread it out over a year or so and do the chnages gradually. Just don't know which to do first.

For $35 I got the muffler cut out on my 4.6L and a straight pipe put in.

It isn't loud when you are just doing a light throttle moving around the drive and neighborhood. It won't get really loud until you replace the factory Y with a X.

My truck got a NICE boost with the superchip. It really improved its shifts as well as how hard it pulls through 2nd gear.

I talked to someone else w/ a 4.6L who has done exhaust, chip, intake, and electric fans. He said the fans gave him the biggest boost.
