Magnaflow coming this week

Im going to get a magnaflow exhaust put on my screw this week and had a quick question before i walk in the shop. What i want to accomplish is a good deep sound to bring out the 5.4, dont want to lose power or not really looking to gain much, if i do great. And i want to keep the si/so design. First question is:

Should i keep the stock 2.5inch pipes or upgrade to 3inch pipes? I heard you can lose torque from reading the board if i go with 3inch pipes, is this true?

For what im looking to get out of this is the 5x8x18 magnaflow the best for me? Anyone got a part number on this?

And i was quoted 140 including work and exhaust for the magnaflow, is that a decent deal?

The Magnaflow 15609 kit is the one I'm going with. It is made out of 436 SS and has 3" piping all the way down. I haven't heard of any HP or TQ loss with this proper configuration.

Ditto on the 15609. Just installed mine and WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I could not get my stock pipe off, though, and went around the corner to my neighborhood mechanic and he got it off. If doing again, I would take it directly to the man.

Also, the 15609 kit is mandrel bent 3" pipe cat back. I think this makes some difference VS the muffler shop install. I paid $265 + tax and about $38.00 frt from Full Line Exhaust in Austell, GA. There are other Full Lines out there but not all will sell to the public. Just check Magnaflow's site for their distributors and call.

GOOD LUCK!!

i got the exhaust put on and love it. What my installer told me is to wait about 2 weeks and the exhaust will get louder, is this true, is there a break in time?? And will it be noticably louder?

I noticed the same thing happened to my Flowmaster exhaust when originally new. After a two week period, the exhaust got noticable louder. This is due to the exhaust breaking in. Now, two years later, I am tired of the noise. That is why I'm going to be scapping the Flowmaster and bolting up a Magnaflow exhaust. I think the matrerial in the Magnaflow system won't degrade (because Magnaflow's stainless steel vs. Flowmaster's Aluminized steel) as much over time, so I don't think there will be that much difference after the "break in period."
