Magnaflow 15609 or magnaflow muffler w/ custom pipe??

I have been debating on getting the magnaflow 15609 or just getting a magnaflow muffler and having an exhaust shop weld it in and run dual pipe back. This shop said if I supply the muffler he would put it in for $90. If I decide on just the muffler what size and model should I get for a nice deep tone but not a lot of cab noise?? Any suggestions welcome on what to do.

I just had a magnaflow muffler installed yesterday and I couldnt be happier. I was debating about going with the setup you listed, but wanted different tips and exit location. So I had the shop custom fabricate it. Sounds tight! Not overbaring, but a loud gurgle outside and not to much on the inside when not stomping on it. Real deap tone. Love it! Got some pics in the link below, galery one and two.

Go to "Pimp Ford Truck2" album for new set with some rear view exhaust setup pics and the first album for some pics of the tips. Hope this helps.

i just had a magnaflow muffler put on my truck, replacing just the factory muffler. i love it! like Bullitt4711 said, its not too loud inside the cab, but it sounds good on the out side. i got a 4x9x18 from ebay for $30, and a local shop installed it for $45. definitely well worth the money! plus i picked up a couple mpg!

Spaceman, did you have the shop put any other pipes on or was it simply installed where the old muffler was? Can you post pics?

Thanks,
TJ

i will take some pics as soon as i can. there was pipe installed, since the factory muffler is about 3 feet long, and the magnaflow was only about 18".

Spaceman,

I should have thought my post out a little more before I posted. Can you tell me what Magnaflow you got, part #? Is it SI/SO or SI/DO? How much piping did you actually need to have installed. You say there's not much noise in the cab; how much is not much? What I want is the performance and I only want to hear it when I get on it, or VERY little in the cab at normal running speeds.

Sorry to be a pain in the back side.

Thanks,
TJ

the model # is 11256, si/so, you can see it here . its at the bottom. i got mine off of ebay for $31 used. they said it was only on the car for about 3 days, it looks like that was right, cuz it looks brand new. i just took some pics, i have to put them on a website so you can see them, i will post when i get them online.
and dont worry about asking questions, those of us who love our trucks also love to talk about them!! (myself included)

03 SILVERv8,
Take a look at my gallery if you are interested in a custom magnaflow design. All of the part numbers and information is in there. I have nothing to say but good things about the setup, I have been very pleased with it.

I was looking at going w/ the dynomax muffler part#12288(s/i 3", d/o 2.5") and running pipe over the back axle and just having it dump right past the back axle. And Lstrocker your gallery was not on your profile..

Spaceman!! What about power or low end torque loss? I am considering the same setup but was concerned about that. Also how much louder than stock is it? I want something slightly louder than but I dont want it to drve me nuts inside the cab as this is pretty much our family vehicle. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks 01 f150 SC 4X4 4.6

i have a .wav clip of it, but i need to put it on the web somewhere. give me a little while, i will post back when i find a place to put it. it is not a whole lot louder than stock, and you kinda have to listen for it during normal driving. but it sounds very good under wot! nice and rumbly! will post in a bit....

almost forgot...

i didnt notice any loss in torque, but it has helped with my gas mileage! i normally drive about 75% highway and 25% city and the first quarter tank i usually had around 100-110 miles. since the magnaflow, i have been consistently getting around 115-125. i put premium in it before i took a trip down the highway (75 mi one way) and i had 165 miles before it passed the first quarter tank marker, i was VERY impressed! i dont know if it was due to the premium gas or the muffler or what, but i like it!
