Flowmaster Vs. Magnaflow ???

Im looking to do a Duel rear exit on my 02 5.4 My two top runners are the Magnaflow and Flowmaster. I have no epierience with Magnaflow. I looking for a good sound and decent power gains, also next year Im looking to bolt a 9lbs ati charger on.
So anyone with any opinions on either, advise, maybe a free cat back exhaust?? haha.....well thanks in advance for the posts

I don't know if anyone here has any experience with the dual out rear Magnaflow yet. I have been waiting for mine for almost 5 weeks now. I had a Flowmaster which I liked the sound of, but the aluminized pipes rotted out in 3 years of NY salt. The Magnaflow is stainless steel and should last considerably longer. If I get my Magnaflow sometime this century i'll let you know how it is!

I love the flowmaster sound though, does the magnaflow sound just as good? I dont want it there for 3 years and have to scrap it. Are you guys happy with the magnaflow?

I like my Flows, but then again we dont have the winters with road salt like you all have up North. Nothing Sounds Like a Flow!

If you are looking to bolt on a supercharger at some point, I would say skip either system. They both use 2.5" single input. I recommend going with a dual 2.5" in system, like those designed for Lightning or supercharged HD. They will work better for your future mod. Dual after the muffler is nice, but if it is restricted to single 2.5" between the y-pipe and muffler, why bother as far as performance goes? You'll be limited by that single 2.5" section.

Question

Hey sdf150guy,

I see from several posts you like flowmasters. I want to put some 40 series delta flows on my V6. What size inlet and outlet do you reccommend? I was thinking 2.25 in and out because i dont want to loose any low end. I think that the stock pipes are 2.25 in diameter right? I also just plan to get it dumped right after the muffler(if that makes a difference?) 2.25in/out or 2.5in/out?

I'm ditching my flowmaster 40 after about 2 months. The loss of the low end really turned me off to the flowmaster. my magnaflow will be here later this week. woohoo!

Thumbs up Magnaflow

I had my Magnaflow duel out system installed yesterday (custom job). Sounds great and just trying to show the wife how it sounded I chirped the tires leaving the light. "Nice"

Give us a little more detail. What do you mean by a (custom) Magnaflow? Any pictures?

Magnaflow didn't make a duel out complete system for the Expedition so the shop used a single in duel out Magnaflow stainless muffler, stainless Magnaflow tips and fabricated the pipes to make everything fit. The tips exit behind the rear tires at about a 45 deg. angle and are also angled down slightly. It really looks and sounds sweet. I don't have any pictures but the job was done at a local custom exhaust shop, Superior Automotive, here in Portsmouth, Va.
