Thumbs up Side exit Dual exhaust

I was told by my local muffler shop that dual exhaust out the rear of the truck can only be done by running the driver's side pipe under the 17" spare tire or to remove the spare. I then had them install a 50 series delta flow flowmaster SIDO with two 3" tips out the side in front of the rear tire. I love it. It sounds great, quiet on the inside, no droning. You know it is there at idle and especially on the gas.

I hope this works!!!!

I had a Flowmaster 40 w/ dual 3" rolled tips out in front of the rear tire on my 98. It was way loud (which I liked). It's sorta hard to tell in these pics:

That turned out nice. Seems to be a popular place to dump them

I will say I have seen one green center cap on a 1997 ( not changed ).

It was on a truck that looks like it never saw anything aside from a touchless car wash ( looks good from a distance, but up close, trashed ).

I am now at 33k miles with no sign of green what so ever.
Go figure...............

I've got the center exhuast (stock on my 1997).

It looks great. I still have the original exhaust at 168,000(thanks to a lot of highway miles.)

Of course, there is damage to the rear wheel rim.

Wouldn't all 4 wheels have damaged rims ?

In 168 K miles, you would have somewhere about 15 to 17 tire rotations.
I could see where the damage would be concentrated to the center cap, those usually get left in place with the lug nuts, but only 1 wheel with a damaged rim ?

It hasn't damaged my stock XLT wheels and hasn't damaged my 02 L wheels. I think its a matter of how often you clean them and how in depth you go into cleaning them.

I put wax on mine before the exhaust was installed and I will continue to wax the center caps and rims as long as I have the truck. I love the the pipes on the side. Plus I was not going to remove my spare or have the driver's side pipe hang under the spare and they cut the price by 75 bucks for the side exit. I think that I will rotate the center caps with the tires though.

I have Flowmaster Delta 40 series into duals out the rear on my '94. I even had a hi-flow cat installed cuz the sound was to quiet... Well, its still pretty quiet... Ya really gotta get on it to get some good sound and also be right behind the exhaust..

Turns out that its so quiet due to the additional length and twists and turns of the exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler in order to have it exit out the rear...
I may get dumps put on the muff instead...

By the way, I live in Florida and my Flowmaster is only about a year old and its already pretty rusted up and miserable looking.... Go figure.

I put a side exit ehaust on with a single tip, but the next time it will be two tips as you can see I think it looks the best. My flowmaster 40 is too loud! I love it. My rims show no pitting or color change. Also my Diablo chip added to the rumble on a long drive it sounds good.

Wink

Which is kind of funny, because the muffler shop I had mine done at, said it couldn't be done out the side,,,,98
