Are there any negative effects on cutting the stock muffler off after the cat? Positive?

Negative: Loss in a little bit of power

Positive: Sounds great.

i cut my muffler out and ran dual tailpipes out the back with tips. No loss of power --if anything a slight gain in off the line power. Sounds pretty dam good--just wait till i get hi flos and true duals

What type of sound does it produce in a 5.4L? Deep? popping? Loud? Personally, I don't like it tooooo loud, and I hate popping. I like a somewhat loud and deep sounding rumble. I dont like roaring. Let me know what type of sound this setup would produce. Thanks!

Those are some good clips, but the one clip with the stock muffler cut off, that was with no additional pipes added on? (Finished exhaust system) I currently am running my 02 F-150 FX4 with the 5.4 without the muffler. It was cut out, a "Y" pipe put in and duals were ran out the back. At least mine doesn't "pop" and "rap" as much as that clip. Personally, I am extremely happy with my exhaust. A low "grumble" without any popping which growls a little when I give it some gas, but when I get up to whatever speed I need to, it blends away into road noise. If I had a clip of my setup, I would definitely post it. Something I may have to work on.

If I were to do it again, I would still just do a "Y" pipe...no difference known what-so-ever!

The sound clip with no muffler is with no pipes after the cat either. I cut the muffler of and fired her up to see what it would sounds like.
