Question Exhaust question

What would be the pro/con of removeing the cats, and just running striaght dual exhause to a striaght thru exhaust?

Only exhaust that I can get in town here is dynomax, they any good?

Also what size exhaust should I run 2.5" on a 5.4?

Welp...

I know that for most of the non-heavily modified engines, the cats provide the needed backpressure to help keep the low-end torque intact.. Now, I could be wrong there, but that is what I remember when I was researching exhausts...

Why don't you order a Magnaflow or something and have it delivered to your doorstep?

Well..

I have the 15609 which is the single exit, out the passenger side - basically where the stock exhaust exits.. There is the new dual exhaust magnaflow which is a dual exit (single in/dual out at the muffler) and it exits straight out the rear. If I recall correctly, the number is 15749..

I understand on the duties and that is quite a valid reason... Maybe you could have a buddy here in the states buy one, he naturally won't like it and you can buy it from him for one dollar.

hey 2002s-crew
where are you in Canada?
I just had a magnaflow 12278 si/do muffler with vortex mandrell bent pipes installed on my 99 xl short box extra cab and all the parts were bought in Canada. It would probably cost you about 500 cdn installed. The 12278 is aluminized rather than stainless steel as are the pipes. The muffler still has a lifetime warranty tho and cost a lot less!

I'm in prince george. SO what exhaust setup will give me the most power plus sound the badest. I don't really care about cab noise, cause I will have 2 10" Rockfords HX2 being pushed buy a 1000.1 amp

my muffler came out of Edmonton so that's pretty close to you. According to anything I've read si/so will give you the best hp by a little bit. There are lots of threads here dealing with 'baddest sound'.

who did you buy it from? OR did your local muffler shop bring it in? I'm gonna check out the offroad truck performance places in town.

Oh I didn't even know the cougars played last night, I don't pay much atten to that anymore. $615cdn for a cat back magnaflow from lordco auto parts. That a good deal?

Also how does Magnaflow 15749 si/do with cat backs cut out sound?

I couldn't tell you about the no catback thing as I've still got mine on. I really like the sound of mine, a nice rumble at idle and sounds good at WOT. More power too. Magnafow.com has some sound clips. Did you ask about the specific part #? It sounds like they are quoting on the whole stainless system. Go aluminized as it's much cheaper and still has a lifetime warr. I got my system for around $400/installed but I know the guy pretty well so I would expect about 100 bucks more...

I oould get stainless in Canada if you plan to ever drive it in the snow.

With the 5.4L, dual 2.5" or single 3".
