custom exhaust problem

Thanks...
Bartak1, thanks for the info. I actually had my exhaust done today and the place I had it done carries the Hypertech. They sold for $319.00 and agreed to go through the first program with me. Unfortantly, they didn't have the unit I needed in. I've seen it for $309.00 w/no tax on the internet, but I'm so happy with the customer service of the muffler shop, I might just go back this week and pick it up there. This muffler shop is actually the one who did my 98 2 years or so back. I remember they were nice enough to hold up 4-5 different units until I heard the one I likes. Today I had a 50 SERIES Delta Flow® Performance Street with 3" pipe installed on my 02 5.4. It sounds great!! Of course it like it made a big difference, but who knows?
The Flowmaster 50 Series[tm] Delta Flow® muffler is designed to produce a mellow, deep sound in most vehicle and truck applications. It is milder than the 40 Series[tm] mufflers on the outside of the vehicle, and is significantly quieter inside the vehicle, yet it still has the right performance sound and feel which is achieved with the use of a special Resonant Tuning Chamber within the muffler. Performance is comparable to the 40 Series.[tm]

Richgonfishn, hey man, i've posted quite a few things concerning a flowmaster 40. i have one and am waiting on install, but i would like to know about horsepower, i'm not into racing so it is really not to big of a deal but i would like it when some punk rolls up next to me. and as far as the noise, i don't care. i have a 5.4 engine. any inputs?

My 2 Cents on exhuast & Chips
On the question of exhaust here's a little info I've learn from being a Harley Nut.
you see the first mode most people make on a harley is to throw out the stock exhaust for a set of ture dual and the bigger the pipe the deeper the exhuast tone, but the bigger the pipe the less back pressure you have and less trouqe on the low end.
so how do you fix it? one way is with restrictor cones. these are cones that connect to the exhaust manifold which have an opening equall to or smaller than the Stock exhaust this creates the correct back pressure restoring power. On the truck this translate to using a smaller diamiter pipe between the header and muffler, than from the muffler to the Tail Pipes
the second option is to put a cross-over pipe in to send exhuast backpressure to both sides of the duals as the pistons fire this would have a similar effect as having a catback exhuast ( ie 1in/2out) yet you would have better flow than a catback. you can do this with an H pipe of X pipe.
Now on to chips... if they make a tuner for your truck look at Superchips. I just got mine in and am looking to do the program upgrade this week, but it comes with 3 tunes from super chips 1. performance 87, Performance-Tow 91, and performance 91, it also lets you change shift point, shif firmness, Speedoo corrections for Gear and Tire, Plus a bunch of other stuff. On a stock configuration it should product about 20 to 26 ponies.
Hopefully this will bump me close to 300hp on my Screw.
