Those with Single in dual outs

I am thinking of putting the Flowmaster 40 Series Street and Strip on my new 04 F150 with the 5.4. Here is what I was thinking:

3inch pipe from cats to muffler then dual 2 1/2 inch straight out the back into 3 1/2" x 18" stainless tips?

Does this sound about right or some of the diamaters to big?

I was just under my 04 at lunch measuring the tubing. The 2 pipes coming from each bank are 2.5", then they "Y" together (2-2.5" in, and 1-2.5" out) and then a section of 2.5" into the muffler, then it's 2.5" out the back.

The best thing would be to have a "Y" with the dual-2.5" banks coming in, with a 3" outlet going to the muffler. Magnaflow makes one, part #10778.

FWIW (and FYI) the muffler case itself is 31" long (!), and is offset/offset (opposite) so any muffler you put in there will have to have a length of pipe in there to take up some room. The HxW don't really matter, because anything you put on there is going to be smaller than that huge thing.

For now, I might just hack out the old muffler, and throw one of the mufflers below in it's place. They all have the required sizes and in/out configuration. For each brand, they are listed quietest-loudest.

No, it's not "off brand". They are top quality and they are the muffler run by most or all of the NASCAR teams.

You can order Spintech directly from the website above or check their "dealers" section for a local distributor.
