Question Speed channel Two Guys Garage F150 Exhaust

Did anyone see the Two Guys Garage show last night on SPEED?

They redid the exhaust on an '02 F150. They upsized the pipe from 2.5 to 3" and put on an Aeroturbine muffler. The muffler was wide open. You could see right through it! They ran the truck at the end of the show and it sounded AWESOME I found their website www.aero-turbine.com they are definitely a premium muffler ($) but with stainless inside and out, and a lifetime warranty, I guess you get what you pay for.

Anyone else tried it? They had a couple of cool pictures in their gallery, but probably could have used more f150s?

I saw that, for a single exhaust and being 3" it sounded really good.

Question

It seems they are trying to get you to go to their dealers???

I am a little new at the exhaust game. What price should I expect for a muffler like this, (all stainless, performance)???

I installed on Aeroturbine on my 2000 F150 5.4. I left the factory exhaust in placed, got rid of my 80 pound factory muffler and installed a 2.5" Aeroturbine. I was quite worried about the sound at first. The shop that installed it said "it would be loud as Hell".

We finished the install and they were more surprised than I was how good it sounded.

I've got about 1400 miles on it since installation and my mileage is up over 2.5 mpg on the highway!

This thing runs like a rocket now!

Best $200 I've ever spent on my truck.

I bought my aeroturbine on line from the manufacturer. It sounds very good. The tone is very low and its really not much louder than stock.

If you like I can try to do a recording for you. (I not much good at that), but I can give it a try if you like.

I'll say $100 and get a Magnaflow. Still straight through, still stainless inside and out, no turbine air turbulance.

Exhaust flow force comes from the engine. Any redirection of airflow reduces that flow rate. Keep it simple and straight.

Did you look at their technology?? It promotes air flow it doesn't restrict it.

Yes, I looked at their site and how the air is forced to twist around. Physics 101. There is no force applied by the muffler on the air, no energy used. There must be some force making the air change directions and it can only be a force in the opposite direction of the piston moving the air out the exhaust. The jet engine alanogy is impressive, but remember en engine uses energy, otherwise known as fuel to accomplish this. No fuel supplied in a muffler, so the force it takes to redirect the air can only come from the engine. While it is clearly an improvement over most stock exhausts, there are better performing designs, for less money.

Has anyone looked at the gains? They show bar graphs that do not have a a zero offset and therefore the huge visual difference between stock and their products are so minor, at most 5hp and 5 ft-lbs, but more like 3/2. You are talking about 1-2% gains. Big deal. Not that I expect a lot more from any other muffler only change, but most good cat-back designs get closer to 10% gains.

MADCOW NOT NECESSARY TO RECORD SOUND FOR ME, BUT I APPRECIATE THE OFFER. IF YOU SAY IT IS NOT MUCH LOUDER THAN STOCK THAT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. JUST DID NOT WANT IT LOUD. AND DO NOT WANT IT LOUD IN THE CAB GOING DOWN THE ROAD. YOU PURCHASED THE 2.5" I SEE. IS THAT THE STOCK SIZE OF THE EXHAUST ON OUR TRUCKS ? I WAS GOING TO ORDER THE AERO TURBINE 3030, SIMPLY BECAUSE WEB SITE SHOWED THAT WAS FOR TRUCKS AND SUVS. I ASSUME YOU WOULD RECOMMEND THIS MUFFLER ?

I noticed on the show that they put on a 3" Aeroturbine with the 3" pipe. However they needed to upgrade all the pipe to do this. When I bought mine I didnt want to upgrade the entire system. Jason at Aeroturbine told me that the 2525 was the quietest and would be an exact fit. I needed something my wife would approve of since it was her truck Now that I did I am glad I chose the 2525 I was able to keep my stock pipes, the install was only $60. The mileage has gone up from 10 to 13 around town, no kidding (digital gauge). It is really cool to hear that sound when I romp on it. The best part is pulling up next to those little ricers and revving the crap out of it! Nothing more annoying than a Hyundai with a $20 swap meet special muffler. Way to go fellow truck owners

The Aeroturbine was definitely worth the time and money.
