Flowmast 40 on 4.2?
Last week I had my stock muffler swapped for a Flowmaster Delta Flow 50 Series. My truck is a 1998 XL with the 4.2 V6. I was really hoping it would be a little louder than it is. It's barely louder than the stock muffler I had removed. I'm thinking of switching to the Flowmaster 40 Series. Any other 4.2 owners have the 40 Series on their trucks? Are you happy with the sound? Also, what's the part number for this muffler? Thanks for your suggestions...

I've got a 40 series flowmaster on my 99 extended cab flareside sport. I would definately recommend it. Sound is louder than stock.......but not annoyingly loud or "rice" sounding. At idle, it makes it sound like a V8. I've had many people ask my if I was running a 4.6 or 5.4. They are very suprised to hear me say 4.2 V6. Then ask me what kind of exhaust I'm running.
There is very little drone in the cab at highway speeds either. The sound is definately noticeable. I just removed the stock muffler and installed the flow with a nice 3" stainless steel Magnaflow tip out the side behing the rear passender wheel. Looks and sounds like it should have from the factory. 8)
