Make sure you check out other posts on this subject. Your truck requires a certain amount of back presure and you can defeat this by making a wrong choice. I am not an expert on this subject but others on this site are. Good luck!

I went with the Magnaflow SI/DO catback on my 03 with the 5.4 and it sounds decent. Its quiet on the highway at cruise speeds and at idle, but she has a nice bark under acceleration.

The multi-cat setup on these trucks requires that you use a LOUD muffler to get much sound. Glasspacks are usually mild steel and I would suggest only getting a stainless steel muffler. A straight-through design gives nice power and sound. Magnaflow, Dynomax Ultra-flow SS, Borla, Edelbrock SS.

I have a gibson si/do on my 03 screw and it is very quiet for a cat back, probably the most quiet of all of the after \market systems. I like it because it is quiet and has a nice rumble while going down the road.

Heritage, which magnaflow system did you go with? The 15749 or a different one. Will the 15749 fit my 02 FX4 with a 5.4 without removing the spare or modifying the system?

I should have mentioned it was a Super Crew. Will it fit the Screw?

Flowmaster

I just put on a super 40 Flowmaster SI/DO exhaust with stainless tips straight out the back on my 2003 Screw. It sounds awesome, not loud at all in the cab, but a great rumble sound outside. What a difference!!

Flowmaster muffler # 9430402

Bukshot, the #15749 fits Sueprcrews, Supercabs/short beds pefectly, and other configurations with some modifications, either cut it shorter for shorter trucks or add a piece of pipe for Supercab/long box configs.

just installed it!

hey all, just went to a place out here in san diego called Thunderbird Mufflers! these guys were real nice and helpful, and since i am in the military, i got a little discount! just paid for the labor! i already had a Flowmaster 40, a Flowmaster 'Y' pipe, and a magna flow stainless tip. all 3 inch. got it on in about an hour. they started it up and i dropped my pants! it sounded sooo awesome.!! first off let me say that i got all the advice on what size pipes and stuff like that from all you out there in cyber land, so my hats off to you! i highly recommend an after market Y pipe. the stock is basically a 2.5 inch pipe, going into a 1 inch hole! really poor design. i got it online from www.jegs.com at about 50 bucks i think, maybe less. the muffler was 20 bucks from a hot rod buddy of mine who wanted something a little quieter. so total for me was $270 give or take a few. but back to what i was saying. they installed the Y pipe, hooked up 3 inch pipes to the si/so 40, then ran 3 inch pipe over the 17 inch spare, and right behind the rear tire with a magnaflow stainless 3 inch tip. like i said, i sounds awesome. i have a 2003 5.4 screw 4x4. the noise on the freeway is nada! startup and at take off it roars. cruise....like i said, i had all the windows open and nothing, unless i was blowing the doors off a dodge, then you could hear it!! hope that helps just like i was helped, again thanks guys! willie!!
