Y-Pipe?

You have one pipe coming out of each side of your engine. These two pipes come down and intersect into one pipe. The rest of your exhaust is just a single exhaust system. Our trucks have a Y-intersection, but many refer to it as a Y-Pipe. One reason is because the intersection can be cut out and replaced by a more efficient Y-Pipe. Another reason is that Y-Pipes are referred to in general for a variety of configurations in many vehicles. Most of the improvements are related to size and flow. If you do a search you will also find pictures.

I've got pics of the factory Y as well as the Magnaflow Y and Flowmaster Y in my gallery.

I recently installed my Spintech exhaust. I checked out the factory y-pipe today before taking it to the dump. I bet the hole for the driverside y is 2 inches or smaller. The x-pipe for the Spintech exhaust is 2.5 inches (minus the thickness of the pipe) all the way through.
I haven't heard the Magnaflow exhaust in person, but the sound clips for any setup probably don't do justice. I was torn between the Magnaflow and the Spintech setups. I loved the Spintech because it exited before the tire and had an X-pipe, but the Magnaflow gave the most HP. Cost eventually came into play, and the Spintech was MUCH cheaper. I wish I would have ordered directly from Spintech, but I absolutely LOVE the way it sounds!
