Question Headers: To (ceramic) coat or not to coat?

Here're the questions: Do I have my set of SS Gibson headers ceramic coated (inside and out) or not? Esthetics aside, is the heat reduction difference, between coated and not, significant enough to warrant this. Again the headers are SS and are guaranteed against corrosion.

it also increases horsepower.keeping all the heat in side the headers increases flow and scavenging

You're both right but ... I've been doing a little research and talked to the coater.

The heat difference is not that significant especially w/ SS headers. A primary benefit of coating is corrosion protection, a major issue w/ carbon steel but not so w/ stainless. Also, while there is a HP gain, it is very low, usually less than 5%. Important if you're racing but not for routine driving and hauling.

The gist is, I'm gonna pass on the coating, if the underhood heat seems excessive I'll just wrap them w/ header tape.

Thanks for the input.
