Muffler Location Make A Difference?
Hoss is a 97 F150 4x4 off road Ext Cab 4.6L
I was curious about muffler location. I had my glass pack replaced over a year ago at Midas and they installed a new performance muffler. Don’t recall the brand but I’m sure some of you guys know the performance brands Midas carries. I noticed it was installed forward of the factory heat shield mounted to the bottom of the bed. I have a duel setup after the muffler exiting out the sides, aft of the rear tires. It has a nice deep sound at idle and sounds good going threw the gears, but I have heard louder throatier systems on other trucks. I was wondering if I move the muffler more towards the rear of the truck if the sound would be different. Any opinions would be appreciated.
P.S. I stepped up the diameter of the pipes too. Not sure if that made a big difference.
