Is it just me or has my exhaust tip lost it's shine after 2 months? It just doesnt clean up like the SuperTruck tips I had on my other truck. Anyone else have this problem.

I agree.....
Carolina SCrew
I agree. I've had mine on for about 4 months and not only has it gotten fine scratches trying to clean road mess off of it, but it's not a "clean" looking. Almost has a slight gold or yellowish hint to it. I mean you can't really tell unless you get right up on it, but I get right up on it.
It might warrant a call to Gibson so see what they suggest.....

Just got off the phone with Gibson customer service. She states that it is the heat that makes it turn color. She said to use a metal polish and it should take care of it. I ask what if it doesnt, she said I would have to send it to them and they would put it on a polishing wheel and send it back to me. I let her know that was crazy!
I will try the polish and see what that does.

Didnt have much hold time.

Interesting.........
The old guy that installed my Gibson SS for me left about 4" of the 3" tail pipe "inside" the tip. I asked if he could re-cut it so the whole 3.5" tip was being used. He said the tip will last and stay shinny longer because the heat won't be as great with it the way he cut it...... Well, I just said "Oh, Okay", but thought I'd just do it myself later on. Well, I just never got around to doing it, but mine is still shinny as ever and only requires soap and water to clean up at "truck wash" time....... I think I'll just keep it this way...

I've also noticed that these tips generally aren't polished very well compared to some others you see. I haven't had any problems with discoloration, but I did polish it up a little better.
Just use some metal polish and a soft cloth and do it "shoe shine boy" style. Cleans it up better than new.

Hey, that makes sense!
I left mine faily long too. Mines not real bad so I guess it might be worse if I had cut the turn out pipe shorter. Although, about half of it is exposed. Hmm....
So Carolina Screw, let me know how your polish job turns out and what you used. Mine has fine scratches, but I guess that's going to happen, I mean it is exhaust after all. You can't really see them unless you get close.
