Question I've heard u guys talk about this

I have a K&N FIPK on my 01 5.4 Screw. Just installed a Borla exhaust. Here's the deal, after reading through out the forum you guys are always saying disconnect the battery when doing performance mods, where the computer will adjust for the new equipment. Do I need to do this for these 2 mod's that i have done?

yea it never hurts to help your truck re-learn whats going on:

Disconnect negative terminal
Turn on headlight switch, and let sit for about 15 mins.
Turn off headlights
Hook up negative terminal
Start truck, let idle for 5-10 mins
Drive normally for about 20 miles or so.

What you did is fine. The reset just helps it learn faster.

disconnect battery

as we speak my f150 is at the dealership having the PCM replaced. i installed a flowmaster exhaust, and a k&n fipk. i did NOT disconnect the battery before i installed the intake, and the check engine light came on when i started it up. The truck immediately went into failsafe mode, and now sits at the dealership. i wish i read this before i installed the kit!

hey guy

Man that sucks. I have never heard of that happening before. I hope you get everything straight. Are you still gonna use the Flowmasters on it or stick with stock.
