Flowmasters are known for being pretty loud. Add some big tips and a cold air intake and you will be about as loud as you can get...unless you go all out with headers and high flow cats.

Pretty much everyone here is going to tell you to get a magnaflow. My dynomax has a nice deep rumble and its a hell of a lot cheap than magnaflow.

Respectfully....ummm no!

Magnaflow is not the muffler you want when your biggest concern is having a loud exhaust. Which happens to be the situation here.

Magnaflow & Dynomax are really good at making HP. I haven't heard the same for Flowmaster, but they are loud and that is what he specifically asked for.

Yep... recently converted my true duals to turndowns after the mufflers and the difference is awesome. Never gonna get tips on any future vehicle... only turndowns for me

get some long tube headers, then clamp some high flow cats to the ends of em and it'll be loud and legal

i have a 2000 5.4 v-8 with a 40 series... no horsepower dif really or mpg but its loud enough for me. my previous truck was a gmc with straight pipes i like the flowmaster better their not as loud but much better sound then straights in my opinion. i dont have true duals i just have a single dual out muffler. got it off ebay for cheap.

I always want to know what my truck sounds like from outside...it doesnt seem that loud inside.

But every time I think of that, I realize somebody else would be driving my truck, so I guess I will never really know just how loud it is

I've got a flowmaster with a turndown to replace the stock muffler, nothin else. I like it. I usually cant even hear the exhaust over the engine past 2000 RPMs, and it isnt very loud inside the cab at all, its pretty deep.

If all you care about is sound, replace your OEM muffler with a small 40 series or straight pipe. Any small muffler will be loud.

I had a flowmaster 40 with dumps before I got the dynomax. The dynomax has the same tone as the flowmaster but its definately louder.

for now im just doin the exhaust, i have a couple other exterior things i want before i do headers an cats.

recently converted my true duals to turndowns after the mufflers and the difference is awesome
so, the turndowns do make it sound more aggressive?
or would the 3.5" tips be better?

The dynomax has the same tone as the flowmaster but its definately louder.
the dynomax is louder than the 40 series?

Yep its louder than the 40 series. Its only 12" long. It does have a pretty loud drone at about 2000 rpm though.

When I first put this muffler on it was turned down. I now have it turned out the side with a 3.5" tip in front of the tire. Its actually louder and more raspy now. When it was turned down it was more mellow.
