cat back exhaust

well i just recently bought a used 03 f-150 5.4l standard cab and i want a nice tone and growl but not too god awfully loud. what are some of the better mufflers i can use and what size pipe going from the cat to muffler and inlet and outlet on the muffler and the exiting pipe out the back. im looking to do a single in and dual out so i can have the pipes going out at angles out the back. any help would be appreciated please

Cool

magnaflows are the best for power and arent to loud,Flowmaster well is just loudunless you can get the 50 series (quieter) ,and imco combines the 2 Loud and power and you lose some low end torque. go with 2.5in/3in magnaflow you wont lose any power.

go to www.magnaflow.com or www.proficientperformance.comalso if you are interested in the imco www.grabthepower.com what angle are you going for if you dont mind me asking. I have dual 90 degree angle behind tire and it looks pretty good ( just suggestion, its something different).

The factory Y-pipe is the most restrictive area in the factory exhaust. Get rid of it by going dual 2 1/2" pipes into a proper Y-pipe to 3" single exhaust or through an X or H pipe into dual mufflers, or go straight into a DI/SO or DI/DO muffler. I went with the DI/SO Flowmaster 50 series SUV Deltaflow.

well i don't want to touch anything in front of the cat because of the factory warranty. i spoke to ford they said as long as u don't touch anything in front of the cat then my warranty is still good

Any of the usual exhaust mods all take place after the cats. They are ahead of the two exhaust pipes where they first meet up at the Y-pipe on the passenger side of the truck. This is all after the cats which are tucked up along side the engine just off of the exhaust manifold. Unless you are adding headers, you don't have to worry about touching the cats.

how good are the imco muffler's. i really like that sound and i want to prove a point to somebody i work with cause he just spend over 700 bucks on a magnaflow dual exhaust. i want to make my exhaust cheaper with the same sound. and i know of a shop local that can do it cheap and do a good job. im really interested in that imco muffler. any ides suggestions and anyone have clips of the imco on a 03 5.4 standard cab or ext cab
