Just installed a Magnaflow on my 1999 4.2 5 speed.

I went to a local muffler shop and talked to the owner. I told him i was more interested in performance than sound. He recommended the Magnaflow #12259 with a 4" resonator tip.I read somehwere in this forum not to go more that 3" in diameter on the tip, but the owner assured me 4" was fine. What do you guys think? Too big?It is a tad loud in the cab, but not too bad.The outside sound is more like a purr than a growl.I will check my gas mileage to see if it is better with the new muffler.

I don't think a 4in tip would cause any problems, with performance, it just sound abit diffrent then a 3in tip would, overall I think it will work just fine.

Does it sound like a truck should sound, or does it sound like a ricer?
