Does punching out your cat give you more HP?

I was woundering if punching out your cat gives you enough hourspower to make it worth it?

Don't do it. Better to replace it if you think there's a problem with it.

theres not a problem with it but i just replaced my stock exaust and want it to be louder and would like more hp and i was told that would do it. any Ideas? thanks

Personally, I wouldn't do it.

There are other ways to achieve what you want. Browse around the various forums and you'll pick up some ideas.

I think it's always best to stay within the boundaries of the law.

Go with Magnaflow cats. I think they will give you what you want. Troyer performance has then for about $80

do you know if theyll work b/c from the manifolds to the back of the cat is all one piece i would have to cut and weld them on or buy headers and a new collector thanks for your help!

If you want it loud, you could leave the cats in place and remove the muffler.

i had just replaced the stock muffler on saturday and before i put the new one on i started it to see how loud it was and it still was very quit thanks for the idea though

Assuming that you have an 89, and that its a 5.0, then go ahead and gut them. I had mine gutted on my 89 stallion. It ran great. When you gut them, wear some type of mask, the platinum and other metals in there are bad for you. Or just cut them off and weld in a piece of pipe.

Lots of people get pissy when you do something like that, especially in public. I ahve seen cars run cleaner on an emissions machine without cats that a car with.

Fact is, you won't hurt anything on a 5.0 letting her breath
