Cat Removal
#16
Whiteusmc,
I am one of those who firmly believes the catalytic converter to be an invention that should go the way of the camaro, extinction. However, on your application, if you have four I would remove two and add a couple of little motor cats as I did, such as jeep 6 cylinder ones. I think I paid (wholesale cost) about $60 each. Anything post 95 or so relies on that back pressure created. Now, I won't say it isn't possible. I ran a 96 Honda Civic 4 banger catless for a while (save the crap, it was all I had at the time) and never had an issue. If you do a quick yahoo search for O2 simulator there are many sites that sell them for $30 or so bucks, and they are pretty easy to install, as you don't need the downstream ones anyway. I personally kept mine and installed my cats further down to keep it working correctly. Nowadays, I find it easier to just buy pre 1974 cars.
