Flowmaster vs. Magnaflow vs. Borla

Hey guys, I have a 2005 F-150 Supercrew Flareside, 4.6L v8, I want to get rid of this stock exhaust, but I am not sure what exhaust sounds the best. My dad has an 86 F-150 with a 302 in it, and he has SI/DO Flowmasters on his truck and it sounds good and has lasted a while. I know that Borla is the most expensive, and Flowmaster is the cheapest, but I am going for overall sound quality, and what will last the longest. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I just installed a Magna SISO system, easy to install, all stainless and good sound. My decision was based on this web site and information from Maganaflow and Mike Troyer. I believe this system provides the best gains in HP and torque and it is competitively priced. Good luck on whatever you decide.

For sound, go with Flowmaster or IMCO, or even straightpipes if you're brave enough. I'm hoping to get my Flowmaster off soon enough, and get some pipes put in
The Magnaflows are just too quiet for me. And I haven't heard the Borlas so I won't comment on them, but they are pricey.

Don't forget to throw Bassani in the mix. They will also give you a sweet sound. Probably not as loud as the flowmaster though. Stainless is the only way to go!!

I just installed the magnaflow y-pipe and 3" x 18" long siso magnaflow muffler today. And It sounds all right, I cut off the stock muffler last night and drove around for awile. It sounds pretty dam close to the same with the magnaflow on as it did with no muffler. I think that I like the sound of the flowmaster 40 series better, but I've had them and haven't tried out the magnaflows yet.

I am running true dual exhaust with an H-pipe, no mufflers and 3" chrome tips. I love the sound. I had Flowmasters on my previous truck.

Just put on a Flowmaster 40 series SI-DO and it sounds great. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend doing the same to yours.
Good Luck with whatever you choose, and save for extra gas money your heavy foot will need.

I have a Magnaflow Catback (part number 15609) on my truck and a Borla Catback on my Mustang. There is no comparison between the two, Borla makes a far superior product in both Quality, Fit, Grade of Stainless, and Sound.

If you are looking for a quality catback system, I would look at only Borla or Corsa.

You don't see many trucks with the Borla because there isn't anyone who wants to pay for them. If you "pony" up for a Borla you will be happy. They are not loud, but sound great. No offense to anyone, but I don't like the redneck glasspacks or straight pipes that everyone and their brother have on their z-71. I have the single side outlet on my truck and really like it. The wife doesn't complain because of noise either.
