Y-Pipe Question?

I was wanting to know if there is an aftermarket y-pipe available? I have seen the one Bassani makes for the Lightning, but will it work on a regular 5.4 (non-supercharged version)?

There are many, many to choose from. I have a Magnaflow, cost about $30. Bassani...Flowmaster...most of the performance exhaust companies make them.

Okay, now I know what your talking about. I was looking at the Y-Pipe that goes from the manifold to the catback. You know, with or without cats.

5.4 I was asking the same question about 2 months back and could not find a answer. The best answer I got was have one made and that is what I had done. Best of luck in your search.

Sorry, I thought you wanted this:

But you really want the whole assembly.
Any muffler shop should be able to fab it up for you.

The Ford piece includes all 4 cats and is pricey, over a grand if I'm not mistaken.

True Duals is the way to go... i had this done on my 06 supercrew. I have seen many guys Y pipe the rear duals (Single in dual out muffler) I just do not like the sound and I do not see the performance gain as you are still keeping the stock restriction off the motor into a single pipe. I had the flow master 40's put on. They cut the exhaust below the converters on the down pipes and ran two pipes back through two fm 40's and out each corner through 78 model trans-am style dual stainless tips... what a awesome sound. I am very pleased.

I was wondering if it would be a gain since I am getting ready to do the same. I was afraid it would lose torque because of little back pressure. If it would benefit i guess i will go through with the same setup

I lost NO low end torque... I actually have more low end torque. I did not remove "ALL" back pressure. I just freed up some of the restriction at the "Y" pipe area by removing the pipe where both exhaust banks converge. My truck runs great and has more take-off than before... and I've already told you about the sound.... Vroooom! Awesome. BoB
