dumped muffler: magnaflow or dynomax?
So i've decided im gonna go ahead and set up a dumped exhaust. Reading through this forum, i've narrowed down my choices to either a magnaflow or dynomax bullet. I could use some pointers/input however.
Truck is 05 4.2 V6 . I believe stock piping is 2.25? Should I go w/ SISO or does SIDO has some benefits? Should I stick w/ stock piping size or go up to 2.5" instead? I want noticeable rumble/growl during idle and esp. accelerating, but I dont want drone as much as possible. Which of the 14" & 18" magnas is better?
I've read that i'd want some backpressure when dumping muffler. Just wondering why is this? How long of a pipe should I leave out before pointing the tip downwards?
And oh, any negative outcome/effects to underside of truck when dumping a muffler?
Much Mahalo

I got mine from Jegs. It was $33.99 for the muffler and $10.99 for package/handling for a total of $44.98 .
The Dynomax part number is 24215. It is the 2.5" I/O and it's the 12" design. The total length is 16" with the inlet and outlet.

Go with a MagnaFlow Part # 12278, got mine on e-bay for $75 shipped...
Sounds good, not as loud as flows... I love mine cause of the quality it is made of stainless steel...
SIDO- 2.25 inlet/dual 3" outlet, I ran mine right before the axel and dumped it. It sounds good when your stepping on it and quiet when your not.
I have to drive alot on long trips and I'm glad I went with the magnaflow, my buddy has the MAC and its obnoxious...

So is there less cabin noise if one considers the MagnaFlow over the Dynomax? I like the idea of hearing it when I gun-it but not when I am driving with the kiddos..

the dynomax bullet is slightly-moderatly louder then factory at idle, but sounds great. No drone during acceleration or holding any rpm on cruise cntrl. Only drone i ever heard was from slight accleration up a medium grade hill, like from 25mph - 30 mph. where my rpms where steady speed and engine was under a load. about 2200rpms...
Now that i gutted my precats im getting more drone, and i will hopefully be able to redo my cats in the near future. I want a pipe that flows straight through the cat housing to minimize pressure differences, increase flow, and reduce drone and low poping noises when reving/ engine braking.
Id definetly stick to a SI/SO muffler if you want to dump it, and i havent had any problems with the exaust gasses being dumped under the truck. Will be interesting to see if i notice any signs of wear or stains etc on susp parts or w.e now that i have gutted precats...
Btw dynomax bullet FTW!
