3" or 3.25" AF1?

I understand that you get a little more power with the 3.25" tube on the AF1 intake, but I was told that I would have to reinstall my factory intake every time I take the truck to the dealership.

Anyone have any opinions on whether the extra power justifies the hassle?

Either way, I am pretty excited about getting my new xcal2 and AF1

I got the 3.25 because I'm almost out of warranty and I figured, "eh, why not get the extra power?".

But to be perfectly frank, I'm straight up with my dealer too. I tell them what I'm doing to the car and I think they respect that. I've yet to be turned down for something.

My understanding was that you had to reinstall the factory intake because the 3.25 AF1 would cause irregular results to the ford diagnostic equipment. I was told that you HAD to take it out or Ford would not be able to properly service the vehicle. Is that correct?

I guess my questions is whether the power gain for the 3.25 is significant. Maybe I should consult with Troyer.

You have to take it out because you can't put the stock tune back on without doing that. It would run the engine too lean.

I see. Should I go for the 3.25"? I am thinking yes.

I debated about it for a month before I said to myself the warranty only lasts for 36000, do I plan on having my truck a lot longer? Yes? Go for the more power.

Really what it comes down to is personal preference. Do you want to be able to go back to the stock tune or do you not care?

I, too, debated for quite awhile but I just got my 06 and Ford was including the 60K warranty so I went with the 3" to avoid having to swap out for each trip to the dealer.

I have 3/36,000...I doubt mine will ever go to the dealership...I ran my last F150 81k miles without taking it to the dealership...however, I'm a little mechanically inclined and basically do all my own work...

After talking to Anita at Troyer, I opted for the 3.25 since I am at 32k on my 2005. Plus it is not that hard to put the OEM back on.

My truck has been in ford dealership few times for TSB issues and they said nothing about my truck mods performance and one of guy who tend to work on my truck told me " its damn sweet sounds!" and asked me where did i got my AF1.
