Help for a newbie? What's best.
First let me say what a help this site is. I just bought a 06'
SCAB (5.5 shortbed) with the 4.6 v8. I want to upgrade the exhaust as to get better performance whithput going deaf. I plan on pulling a motorcycle or utility trailer once in a while and don't want to lose torque. Also should I go to a cold air box also? Lastly having worked on Harleys for a while if you make a change like this you have to download a new map for the E.F.I,doe's this hold true here or doe's it set itself? Any help is appreiciated.

The Magnaflow catback systems are not too loud and you actually pickup some torque and HP down low...
As far as intakes and tuners, I recommend the AF1 high performance intake and the X Cal 2 tuner with custom tunes from Troyer Performance...
The AF1, X Cal 2, and Magnaflow are a good combination...

You don't HAVE to do anything to the computer for just exhaust. If you add a CAI I would suggest disconnecting the battery, draining the computer, so it will relearn with the new intake.
I also have a Magnaflow on my truck. It sounds awesome. Not to loud cruising around or on the highway, but it gets loud when you gas it. Check my pics.

Magnaflow does not make a cat back for a short bed SCAB. If you were to buy one and shorten the inlet pipe you void the warranty.
Flowmaster allows you to cut down the pipe but flowmasters are know torque killers.
Take a look at the Banks Monster Exhaust. They make a specific cat back kit for the short bed SCAB. It is a nice flow-through stainless system.

How often do people really need to use the warranty on a muffler? Just cut the pipe down and don't think twice. I put Flows on my last truck AND cut 2 of 4 cats off, talk about low-end torque loss!! Banks makes some killer stuff, it's good and they know what they are doing but it's expensive. The cheapest I ever found the Monster kit for was about $475 online a few months back. I have a total of $300 in my Maggie exhaust.
