ive heard alot of people say that they like glasspacks. i overheard i guy at the muffler shop asking if they had any 3 inch glass packs so i guess they make them smaller. can i keep my dual exhaust if i put them on? i dont understand how you would put them on with a single pipe going into the muffler, and then two coming out? do you just put them in place of the muffler?

yeah in your case one glass pack would take the place of your muffler then you can have a Y pipe fabbed up so you can run duals out the back or side or were ever and 3" he was probably reffering to the size of the pipe instead of the length. but yea I like the sound of mine (every body is intitled to there own oppinion) but agian mine dont sound any thing like a dump truck and it ante awfull sounding its just anoyingly loud!! and fun.

there might be still hope. i told my dad i would pay him back for the muffler, and i might get true duals for christmas. Is there anything i need to know that is really important or that i need to ask the muffler shop?

Hey I have been threw 5 exhaust set ups trying to get the perfect tone for that real deep loud tone. And what you need is to get 2 Magnaflow catalytic converters to replace the FOUR! that are on there after that have your exhaust guy run about a 4 to 5 foot piece of 3 inch pipe form where the two sides come together and run that to the muffler and once you do that the single 40 series muffler will be plenty loud. Trust me. And depending on the amount of cab noise you want to deal with will determine wether you just dump the exhaust after the muffler or what I did for awhile was dumped it right over the rear axle and it turned out bad ***! As far as the true dual set up goes its gonna cost alot of money and the sound wont be smooth having two mufflers instead of one. In my expierience true duals tend to get that popping noise towards the higher end there just not quite as smooth as one single muffler. Anyways Good Luck Bro!

its freakin loud. when i come down my street i have to go 10mph because its too loud to acclerate any at all. if i start at about 20 i can make it to my driveway coasting. my dad said if he gets one complaint from a neighbor or from my mom, then were putting mufflers on. ill try to get pics of it in a couple of days.

This response is a little late, but I just joined yesterday. I have a 97' model with the 5.4. I have true duals on it with no mufflers. 2.5 or 3" tips straight out the back. It is louder than the trucks I have heard with aftermarket mufflers. If you cut the cats off in addition to what I have it will even be louder, but I have heard cutting off the cats can mess the truck up so I have not done that.

Just give it some time

I had similar issues with my 40 series flowmaster not being loud enough, give it a couple weeks for the mufler packing to get burned out and it should give you the sound your after, plus if you go with a wider exhaust tip (i.e. 3.5, 4.0) you'll get an even deeper sound.
