how to make my truck louder

I have a 1998 f150 4.6L V8. When I bought the truck it had dual exhaust on it already. A week ago, I put on a flowmaster 40 series on my truck to make it louder, and it's not that much louder. What else can I do, or should I just dump the exhaust?

if you want loud go with 12" glass packs i put one were my factory muffler was and run two 18 echo chambers out in front of the rear wheel like on a lightning and I think its the loudest truck in town course theres only 5000 people in town too.

huh I would take the 40series off but U spent the money so next time U get it redone and if you still want it loud go with glass packs my buddy just put a 40series on his and compared to mine his sounds stock, dont know what they would do or sound like behind the flowmaster id think it wouldnt do any thing in front of it but behind it I just dont know, and hey if you get them look at them before you get them welded on and make sure you can see all the way threw them other wise they will just sound like a muffler.

thanks for the help. i will probably get some glass packs and keep the muffler for later on if i want to make it quieter. does anybody know about dumping the exhaust? that is my other option. i heard that its not that much louder, just resonates more in the cab. is this true?

if youve got a 4.6 with duals and 40 series.. it should be very plenty loud, unless you still have cats, take the cats off or go with high flows, glasspacks are stupid and sound like a dump truck.

I would go with some offroad pipes or go with Magnaflows.
Glass packs sound to deep and dont have that true truck sound.

Dumping it could make it a little louder. Upgrade to ceramic headers and high flow cats too and it will be.

I have to disagree it all depends on how you dump it after you come out of them Im very happy with the sound of mine ofcourse it could be a SEMO thing o and It depends on how long of a glass pack you buy mines a 12" I think they make them in 12-18-24" not to sure but most bob/dump trucks have 24's and they dont sound as good as a short one with echo chambers....
