Removing cats??

Having a problem with a rear cat leaking (sounds like it, after crawling under truck to listen). I've read here that some will remove the rear cat when installing a new exhust.
Can anyone elaberate on this. This is my sons first vehicle and he wants to put on a flowmaster setup.
Thanks, bullseye670................

not sure but up here in mass we have to have cats, strict up here on that stuff. but some high flow cats usually do a good job.

the rear catalytic converter is removed and a pipe put in its place. take the cat off and lengthen the pipe that youre going to use to tie into the stock exhaust.

make sure you check your laws and all that to make sure everything is alright to remove the cat. if you can't then a simple replacement is in order. now is the actual cat that is leaking or where a joint is?

It sounds like the cat. Tried to see if I could possible feel a leak with my hand. Nope. It does seem to be loudest before it warms up though.
At firtst I was thinking it might be at the manifold but it doesn't sound like it.
I'm thinking of putting in some seafoam (from a vaccum line) and watching to see if I have any white smoke comming out anywhere other than the tailpipe.

yea, run some seafoam and look for leaks. may just be a loose bolt or bad gasket somewhere.

does it make a kind of ticking noise when you accelerate? if it does then youve got a blown manifold gasket.
