Removing Cats from 97' F-150

Right now I have true duals with no mufflers on my 97' F-150 5.4. I was wondering if removing the cats would cause it to run bad. Has anyone done this to their truck?

i think you would have to figure out what to do with those 02 sensors. im in mass and we have to have cats. usually people throw on a high flow setup. no cats and no mufflers? that has to be loud as hell lol

Yeah. I've heard the O2 sensors could be an issue. If they are behind the cats I would think they could stay on. I'm in Alabam so we don't have emmision checks annualy.

the 02 sensors are pretty important. i know if you take then off you will get bad mileage etc.. not worth taking them off in my opinion. they usually last a long time anyway.never had to replace one in any car ive had.
