just not cuttin it

got an 01 king ranch 4.6 and just got a basic dual exhaust setup on it
-SI/DO "generic flowmaster" muffler
-3 1/2 inch tips straight out the back.

well i got this setup put in a few months ago and it was pretty cheap
it sounds ok but its just well.. not enough.
it only has good volume/tone in the "drone" rpms and right after that it pretty much sounds like a mustang ( mustangs sound great ( i love the throaty sound they have) but i need a beefier sound in a truck, the sound i get is wayy to throaty w/ no tone to back it up) up untill about 3k rpm - redline, where at this point i can barely hear the exhaust n e more, its mostly engine.
we got an 06 daytona charger (please dont beat me) w/ a catback exhaust that you cant hear all at lower rpm's but by the time it redlines it's screamin.

also, is there any way to get that poppin' sound like a straight pipe ( only at the higher rpm's) and still keep the nice tone of a flowmaster ( at lower rps's)

so any ideas on how to make it a bit louder without spending out the butthole?
and why on earth the higher the engine revvs the quieter it gets?

Well you have a lot of options.
You could just cut off the muffler and run without it.Or you could go with a set of high flow cats, Probably a better way to go.
Or you could run true duals and high flows, with 2 mufflers. That's what I run but it would be the most expensive.

about how much would a set of high flow cats run?
-and would an "H" or "Y" pipe do n e thing

You can not use a H or Y without a true dual setup.
You can get high flows for 100 each or less on ebay.

get rid of the pre-cats, or replace them all with high flow cats.

I added a manual cut-out and in my opionion made ALL the diffrence. My exhaust is deeper, louder meaner, one of the best mods I've bought. and it only cost me $28 bucks from summit, and $30 for install.

so.. its not too loud with cutouts? cuz i always thought that would be just as loud as having straightpipes and im pretty sure my dad would kill me if i had the muffler cut off

and where do you put them/it closer to the muffler or headers/manifold

No it's not stupid loud at all. As long as you put it between the cats, and the muffler, your still getting a little bit going through the muffler which really helps keep it nice and mellow. It will just give it a nice deep sound that sounds great at WOT. Mine's I don't know, about 8" or so from the muffler.
I had thought about just removing the cat, like I did on my camaro but after having both and being able to compare, I'll never remove the cat again.
