Talking Magnaflow Installed! (pics added 3/9/2007)

Today I had the exhaust system installed on my truck. I went with the Magnaflow 12258 muffler, which is a 2 1/2" single input / 2 1/4" dual output muffler. I decided not to change or remove the cats, so I am stock up to just before the muffler. I did not buy a bolt on system from Magnaflow because I wanted duals behind the tires, but not both on the same side. So the local shop bent a set of custom heavy guage anodized aluminum pipes for me. Then, they added 3" stainless steel tips which are slant cut and have a rolled edge.

They look sweet, too. I wanted them fairly level to the ground, not angled down pointing at the ground. And the angle is nice, too. It's about 110 degrees, if measured from the front of the truck, or 70 degrees if measured from the rear. They protrude about 2" out from under the truck.

I was going for sublety here. While I think Flowmasters sound awesome, I wanted my truck to be more understated. The sound is a very rich, deep, resonant growl. When I jump on the gas, they snarl and growl loudly, but no popping at all. At startup, and when I accelerate moderately, I hear 'em back there growling lowly, but at low RPMs I don't hear them at all, which is exactly what I wanted.

If I get a chance to clean up my truck a little tomorrow, I'll post up some new pics.

Talking

OK, the truck ain't clean by the standards of those boys on the detailing forums, but it is clean enough to show off my new pipes, I guess.

What do y'all think?

I wish you could hear 'em and give me some opinions, but I don't have a clue how to record the sound and upload it onto this web page. Posting pics is hard enough.

That's the 18" muffler? My 18" Maggie is about to be changed out for dual 11" SI/SO's, which will be dumped. I get tired of keeping the tips clean
