Drone is when you are driving down the road and you can hear the hum of the exhaust inside the cab. Usually under load, like going up a hill The Flowmaster 40 series is notorious for this.

Some people like it, some don't. I have kids, so I went with a Magnaflow exhaust. I'm happy with my choice. I think if I were single and younger, I'd go with Flowmaster and probably deal with the drone, but it can get old quick. Especially on a long trip!

I have the 50 Series Delta Flow on my truck now. Originally I had the 40 series but the drone got real annoying real quick. The 50 series is just right IMO. I have the SIDO setup and it is pretty quiet at highway speeds. Once you give the thing a little gas you can definately tell there is a V8 under the hood. The 50 cut out almost all of the drone but you can still slightly hear it when under a big load while towing or something. Normal driving you will love it because during acceleration it will be nice and throaty but cruising it is nice and quiet. Good luck

X2, I have had both and the descriptions of the 40 and the 50 above are completely accurate. Also, if you have a CAI the drone will get louder under the load conditions as described.

I also have the 50 Series Delta Flow - SI/DO. IMHO it sounds great - loud when you want it load and quiet when you don't.

I only notice a slight amount of "drone" at say 25 to 40mph, not too bad. When I get up to hwy speeds 60 to 75 mph in overdrive you can't hear it at all inside cab. Of course I'm close to 60yrs. old and my hearing is about shot! Probably from driving 18 wheelers for years with the window down at night to stay awake.

I have the Cherry Bomb Extreme & it creates drone in cars 5 miles away.
And registers 4.2 on the richter scale on a cold start up, sweeeet!
