Having it dumped to where the sound bounces back up off of the ground makes one appear louder, for sure.
Kind of like how you "aim" surround sound speakers for your home entertainment center.
Minus the muffler, it will barely gurgle at idle and is actually very quiet. Different story at startup and driving though.
It's never going to approach open header loud because you have the cats in there acting as mufflers.
Does your IROC have factory mufflers?

It should not be that bad as long as your not hammering it.It will be a little loud at high idle on start up but not terrible.I think you will be happy w/ it.I was just thinking my brother used to have the 4.6 w/ no mufflers and pipes exiting at the bumper. That truck used to sound pretty good IMO.If worse comes to worse your neighbors will give you the finger instead of waving

You know me all so well. I really really want to hack it off tonight, and I probably should. Just need to get my hands on a sawzall.
I think I'll call up the neighbor. Let me check and see if I can even cut her at a good angle though

I then ran to my neighbor and got his SawZall. 15 seconds of cutting, 10 mintues fighting with the rubber grommets. I then started it up and immediately had to change my pants. I cant believe how good it sounds. cruising speed it is not bad either. but however, somebody told me I'd actually loose MPG by doing this? Whats the input on that?
